Sometimes in the craziness of wedding season (this wedding was the first of three in a week and a half), I forget how much I loved each expression of love. Then I go back and blog these sessions and remember all over again the incredibly beauty in these sessions and how lovely it felt to witness love between two amazing people. I love these photos- the location, the people, the emotion.
Remembering makes me feel so blessed, so thank you again Janessa and Derek for trusting me to be a part of your special day <3 Venue: Pacific Shores Resort, Nanoose Bay, BC *Note* This wedding celebration did not actually include the ceremony, as their official ceremony had been held a few months before the celebration day. The other day, a few of us went on an adventure up into the mountains behind our house. We ended up on this ridge with an incredibly beautiful alpine forest that was far too pretty to pass up for some photos. But as is my style, just taking pictures of trees and scenery was not enough. I needed some people in my shots. So I asked for volunteers and Cam quickly decided to be that person. I was grateful, but not satisfied, so I forced everyone into letting me take pictures of them :) Even the awesome weenie roasting fire had its portrait captured ;)
Adventurous portraits are my favorite kind of portraits. If you would like to be in front of my camera next time I'm in this type of environment, please let me know. I would love to work that out! I have a ton of fun on lifestyle shoots, especially when they are with people that I know and love. This family is one of those groups of people that I know and love. We hung out in the forest and by the ocean, finding sea creatures and snails and capturing honest moments of what it means to be a part of this awesome family.
Thank you for trusting me to capture these moments for you <3 Not too long ago, I did a boudoir photo shoot and I fell in love with the photos. The photos were a paid gig for a friend though and she wasn't comfortable with me sharing them (understandably). But those photos really got me inspired to do more of the same sort of thing, particularly in the forest. Thanks to Camilla for braving the cold :)
The goal of these photos is not as much to show overt sexuality as much as to show the oneness between femininity and the forest. We, especially as women, are so deeply connected to the cycles of the earth and the more we can embody and love that as truth, the healthier our bodies and our worlds are. Camilla is one of my soul sisters and I never had any question that she would understand that concept or have any resistance to taking part in something like this. All things are one. All aspects of ourselves are one. It is just a matter of figuring out how best to recognize and marry those aspects in a society that is constantly telling us to conquer and divide. If you are interested in taking part in your own session, please send me an email and we can discuss packages and pricing :) This is possibly the funnest family shoot I have ever had the pleasure of photographing. Amilie, Sario and I spend about an hour just wandering around Englishman River Falls park. And by wandering around, I mostly mean following Sario as he led us to awesome places to cool waterfalls.
Sessions like this are a great way to capture an accurate depiction of what family life looks like while also gaining a few nice posed photos to send out in Christmas cards. If you are interested in your own photo session, please let me know! |
